Alpine Skills Session (SB 301)
An Advance course teaches the skills to push into the high alpine.
Service Description
This Advance course teaches alpine skills such as rope work, working with crampons/ice axe and alpine mountain knowledge. Format: 8 hours: 2 hour zoom conference briefing & equipment prep, minimum 6 hours field time with demonstration & practice. This course is designed for advance level backcountry splitboarders with experience and covers the following learning outcomes: - Assessment of advanced splitboarding skills & knowledge base - BC 101 avalanche knowledge focus - Use of alpine tools: ice axe, crampons, harness/rappelling, rope handling and anchor building. - Backcountry travel, transitions and advanced skill building - Terrain management and riding skills on slopes < 40 degrees - Small group dynamics, communication & decision making Pre-requisite: Each student must have the proficiency of several day tours in the backcountry before enrolling in this course.
